The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) is an educational quality assurance authority based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It undertakes early learning, school and higher learning institution management and rates the schools.

Gems Modern Academy offers a CISCE curriculum for Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) option for Grade 11 and Grade 12. This prepares the students for the ICSE examination in the Secondary School and ISC examination in the Higher Secondary School.

The Gems Modern Academy campus is based in Nad Al Sheba, Dubai, which they shifted to in 2008. Their previous campus was located on Sheikh Zayed Road.

The school has two libraries, one for grades 1-3, and the senior library for grades 4-12. The school has over 200+ computers for children to use. The school has a tennis court that consists of three individual tennis courts, cricket nets, a caged football field, a track and field, consisting of a 400m running track beside a cycling track with another football field inside it. The school has a basketball court comprising three individual basketball courts plus one which is in an open space in the center of the campus. The school also has a venue for table tennis. Badminton is played in a building called the M.P.H. (Multi-Purpose Hall). Badminton, lunch, assemblies, exams and a few events are conducted in the M.P.H. The school has an auditorium popularly known as the Sunny Varkey Centre for Performing Arts which hosts several events such as the Rangoli Gulf and Modern World Debates. The school has a canteen just beside the M.P.H. and one more close to the library.

In 2017, GEMS Modern Academy opened the Budhayana - Makers Space Innovation Centre.

• A Multipurpose hall with markings for Badminton and Basketball
• A fully equipped Gym (no one is allowed to use)
• A Cycling and roller skating track

GEMS Modern Academy has outsourced the school transport service to School Transport Services LLC (STS).  STS operates the bus fleet maintaining exceptional safety standards and strictly following the specifications and regulations laid down by the Road Transport Authority of Dubai.  All buses are fitted with Video Surveillance System, Global Positioning Systems and scanners for the purposes of student attendance confirmation and safety.

STS is the only ISO certified (ISO 9001:2008 and OHSAS 18001: 2007) school transport provider. STS is the winner of Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport 2010 and Dubai Quality Appreciation Programme (2011).
