According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 78.2 square miles (203 km²), of which, 78.1 square miles (202 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km²) of it (0.08%) is water.

Davidson Township is bordered by Laporte Township to the north, Colley Township and Luzerne County to the east and Columbia and Lycoming Counties to the south and Shrewsbury Township to the west.

At the 2000 census there were 626 people in 269 households, including 189 families, in the township. The population density was 8.0 people per square mile (3.1/km²). There were 602 housing units at an average density of 7.7/sq mi (3.0/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.40% White, 0.16% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.16% from other races, and 0.96% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.48%.[6]

Of the 269 households 25.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.1% were married couples living together, 8.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.4% were non-families. 26.8% of households were one person and 13.8% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.33 and the average family size was 2.76.

The age distribution was 18.4% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 27.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.5% 65 or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females, there were 102.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.8 males.

The median household income was $32,857 and the median family income was $36,875. Males had a median income of $24,875 versus $22,054 for females. The per capita income for the township was $14,483. About 3.0% of families and 7.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.2% of those under age 18 and 2.4% of those age 65 or over.
