Chris Jones (game developer)

Chris Jones is a video game programmer and co-founder and chief technology officer of Obsidian Entertainment.

Jones began his programming career in the game industry on Interplay's Star Trek: Judgment Rites, Rags to Riches and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. He also assisted in the creation and maintenance of a multi-OS windowing and resource system called GNW. While at Interplay, he worked on the critically acclaimed Fallout[1] as co-lead programmer and was responsible for much of the engine architecture and optimizations. After Fallout and Fallout 2, Chris left Interplay to join Troika Games during which time he designed the engine used to complete Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. After Arcanum, Chris returned to Black Isle Studios and shortly after became the lead programmer for the Baldur's Gate 3 project and was responsible for re-designing the engine and building a solid programming team. In 2003, Chris left Black Isle Studios to become one of the founders and the chief technology officer of Obsidian Entertainment.[2]
