Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin
Chitrapur Saraswats are a small Konkani-speaking community of Hindu Brahmins in India and a part of the larger Saraswat Brahmin community. They are traditionally found along the Kanara coast and call themselves Bhanaps in the Konkani language. Chitrapur Saraswats also call themselves as "Amchigale" or "Amchis".
Historically they trace their lineage to the Kashmiri Pandits hailing from the banks of the Sarasvati River in the Kashmir region.[1] Shri Chitrapur Math is the central Math (community temple) for the Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin sect.
