Bozan, Iraq

Bozan (Arabic: بوزان, Kurdish: Bozan ,بۆزان)[1][2] is a Yazidi village located in the Tel Kaif District of the Ninawa Governorate in northern Iraq. The village is located 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) East of Alqosh and 50 kilometres (31 mi) north of Mosul in the Nineveh plains. It belongs to the disputed territories of Northern Iraq.[3][4]

Bozan has a mainly Yazidi population.[5]

History

The village was originally an Assyrian village known as Bet Bozi according to early literary sources.[6][7]

Wildlife

The vulnerable wild goat (Capra aegagrus) lives in nearby Buzan Mountain.[8]
