Blackberry Township is a township in Itasca County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 880 at the 2010 census.[3]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.1 square miles (93 km2), of which 35.1 square miles (91 km2) is land and 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2), or 2.85%, is water.

Demographics

At the 2000 census there were 717 people, 273 households, and 214 families living in the township. The population density was 20.4 people per square mile (7.9/km²). There were 295 housing units at an average density of 8.4/sq mi (3.2/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.63% White, 0.42% African American, 0.84% Native American, and 1.12% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.70%.[1]

Of the 273 households 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.4% were married couples living together, 3.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.6% were non-families. 16.8% of households were one person and 6.6% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 2.98.

The age distribution was 26.4% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 29.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% 65 or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 109.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 113.8 males.

The median household income was $41,667 and the median family income was $46,607. Males had a median income of $38,088 versus $20,833 for females. The per capita income for the township was $15,776. About 7.8% of families and 9.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.1% of those under age 18 and 12.3% of those age 65 or over.
