The drama was first unveiled in January 2020 with the tentative title, What Matters Most.[4]
The full trailer was released on March 11, 2020 via the action-drama series FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, along with the title being changed to Ang sa Iyo ay Akin.[3]
Premiere date
Ang sa Iyo ay Akin was originally set to premiere on March 23, 2020, however, it was postponed as part of ABS-CBN's temporary programming changes due to the 2020 Luzon enhanced community quarantine enacted to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. Its intended timeslot was occupied by reruns of Got to Believe.[5]
On March 25, 2020, series lead Iza Calzado was hospitalized due to pneumonia and was tested for COVID-19.[6] Three days later, it was confirmed that she was afflicted with the said disease.[7] After another test, Calzado tested negative for COVID-19 and was discharged from the hospital on March 30, 2020.[8]
Its premiere was delayed further following the temporary closure of ABS-CBN on account of the expiration of its franchise.[9] The show's intended timeslot was then filled by reruns of The General's Daughter on the Kapamilya Channel.[10]
