Akshara School

Shri. K. V. K. Raju, the founder of the Nagarjuna Group of Companies, established the Nagarjuna Educational Trust in 1990. The objective of the trust is to establish an educational institution of excellence and to promote value-based education. The school is managed by the Trust.

Akshara was started in 1991 in Kakinada with eight students in a rented premises.

Akshara School was started on 2 July 1990 in a rented building with 42 children and six teachers. In the first year the school had classes from LKG to Std. IV. One class was added each year. In June 1995 it became a secondary school up to Std. IX. The school was shifted to the newly constructed building in NFCL Township on 16 December 1991. By October 1996 a second block, a dining hall, and an auditorium had been constructed.

The motto of the school is "Education for Enlightenment".

School follows the CBSE Syllabus. From LKG to 10th Class here the students are divided into 4 Houses namely Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Neptune after the planets.

Annually the school pupil leader, assistant school pupil leader, cultural secretary and sports secretary were elected by students. However, in year 2015 it was put down by Mrs. Susheela leading to a monarchical selection process of head boy, head girl, assistant head boy and assistant head girl.

The academic year of the school is from April to June with short vacations: one in September/October and the other in December/January. The academic year is divided into three terms — June to September, October to December, and January to April. School is in session for approximately 220 days each year. The medium of instruction is English.
