Affie Ellis

Affie Ellis is an American politician and a Republican member of the Wyoming Senate representing District 8 since January 10, 2017.[1]

Career

Ellis is a former Assistant Attorney General of Wyoming. She owned Steamboat's Steak and Smokehouse, which has since closed, and currently owns and Ellis Public Affairs, both of which were located in Cheyenne.[2]

Ellis is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation. The first Native American to sit in the Wyoming State Senate, she is the third to be elected to the state legislature overall.[3][4]

Ellis currently works at Holland & Hart and counsels clients on public lands and natural resources regulatory and administrative matters.[5]

Elections

2016

Ellis ran unopposed in the Republican primary. She defeated incumbent Democrat Floyd Esquibel in the general election with 61% of the vote.[6]
