Aditya 369

Aditya 369 is a 1991 Indian Telugu-language science fiction film written and directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao and produced by Sivalenka Krishna Prasad. The film stars Balakrishna, Mohini, Amrish Puri, Tinnu Anand, and Tarun Kumar, in lead roles, with soundtrack and cinematography handled by Ilaiyaraaja and V. S. R. Swamy respectively. Aditya 369 dealt with exploratory dystopian and apocalyptic themes.[3]

The film opened to acclaim and remains one of the biggest hits of lead actor Nandamuri Balakrishna.The film received 2 Nandi Awards for best costume Design, and Production design.

Plot

This movie begins with a scientist, Prof. Ramdas (Tinnu Anand), doing vigorous experiments to invent a time machine at his home laboratory. After tremendous efforts, he eventually becomes successful. However, his daughter Hema (Mohini) and her fiancé Krishna Kumar (Nandamuri Balakrishna) accidentally get into the time machine and visit the past (time of Krishnadevaraya's empire). At another instance, the couple ends up in a fictional future set up by the time machine, wherein the world is about to get destroyed through radiation after the end of the Third World War. The story revolves around one more important aspect, Krishnadevaraya's empire – the diamond in a highly secured museum. A high-profile thief named Raja Verma (Amrish Puri) has a peculiar hobby of burglary of expensive diamonds from the world's museums. He makes an attempt to steal the diamond in the present time, which was witnessed by a school kid named Kishore (Tarun Kumar) on his school excursion to the museum. Kishore is trapped inside the museum and happens to see the robbery happening in front of his eyes. He manages to escape from the robbers and gets rescued from the museum by Krishna Kumar.

Music composed by Ilaiyaraaja. All songs are blockbusters. Music released on LEO Music Company. For the song "Nerajanavule", Singeetham wanted a tune similar to the old historical films. Jikki was chosen to sing this song, Singeetham recalled that S. Janaki who was in studio stayed up till the end of song's recording to help the veteran singer with her lines.[4]
