- 13 to 19 January – The 2020 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships – Division III was held in Sofia.[1] Iceland won the tournament.[2]
- 13 March – Bulgaria closed schools and restricted travel to 14 countries to contain the spread of coronavirus after the number of confirmed cases in the country more than tripled to 23 over one day.[3]
