2020 Rice Owls football team

The 2020 Rice Owls football team will represent Rice University in the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Owls will play their home games at Rice Stadium in Houston, Texas, and will compete in the West Division of Conference USA (C–USA). They will be led by third-year head coach Mike Bloomgren.

Previous season

The Owls finished the 2019 season 3–9, 3–5 in C-USA play to finish in a three-way tie for fourth place in the West Division. They were not invited to any other postseason play. Despite the losing record, the Owls retained Bloomgren, however, they did hired a new Offensive Line and Tight Ends coach.

Schedule

The 2020 schedule consists of 7 home and 5 away games in the regular season. The Owls will travel to C-USA foes Marshall, Southern Miss, Louisiana Tech and North Texas. The Owls will play host to C-USA foes UAB, Middle Tennessee, UTSA, and UTEP.

The Owls will host three of the four non-conference opponents at Rice Stadium, Army, a FBS Independent, Lamar of the Southland, and LSU of the SEC (despite playing at NRG Stadium). They will travel to Houston, a member of The American for their lone non-conference away match.
