1908 Isle of Man TT

The second Isle of Man Tourist Trophy motorcycle race was held on September 22, 1908 alongside the RAC Tourist Trophy car race on September 24 at the St John's Short Course, Isle of Man. The race was ten laps of the 15 mile 1,430 yards course, a total race distance of 158.125 miles. The use of pedals was banned, fuel regulations were changed and volunteers were introduced as course marshals. 36 motorcycles started the race, 15 singles, 19 twins and two Four-cyliner FN's. The riders and their machines were ranged up in a double line, singles on one side of the road and twins on the other. At 10.17am the two first men, the 1907 winners, Charlie Collier (3½hp Matchless) and Rem Fowler (5hp Norton twin), were first away at the 1908 TT.
