Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids is a spin-off of the singing and impersonation competition for celebrities Your Face Sounds Familiar. It debuted on January 7, 2017 on ABS-CBN. It is hosted by Billy Crawford. Sharon Cuneta, Gary Valenciano and Ogie Alcasid serves as the show's judges.[1]
Overview
The series is part of Your Face Sounds Familiar franchise and is based on a similar competition format in Portugal entitled A Tua Cara não me é Estranha: Kids. However, only the kids perform.
Format
The show challenges celebrities to perform as different iconic music artists every week, which are chosen by the show's "Randomizer". They are then judged by the panel of celebrity judges.
Each celebrity becomes transformed into a different singer each week, and performs an iconic song and dance routine well known by that particular singer. The 'randomizer' can choose any older or younger artist available in the machine, or even a singer of the opposite sex, or a deceased singer.
The contestants are awarded points from the judges based on their singing and dance routines. The total score of each contestant is counted by summing the points from judges. In case of a tie, the judges will choose the week's winner.
Whoever is at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the each show receives a cash prize for a charity of their choice and a further grand prize for the entire season's champion.
Development
On August 15, 2016, Billy Crawford announced that Your Face Sounds Familiar will return for a third season, which was later revealed as the Kids edition.
The Kids season premiered on January 7, 2017. It replaced the time slot of Kapamilya Weekend Specials filter block, which was served as the temporary replacement for Pinoy Boyband Superstar.
Prize
Every week, the winner will win a cash prize of 100,000 pesos, half will be given to his or her chosen charity. The grand prize is 1 million pesos. A special prize, varying per season, is also given to the champion.
Host and judges
On November 22, 2016, Ogie Alcasid, who made a comeback on ABS-CBN, was revealed as the judge, alongside Sharon Cuneta and Gary Valenciano who are both judges of the regular edition; the three are dubbed as "The Jury." Billy Crawford serves as the host of the local kids version of Your Face Sounds Familiar.
