Yeh Vaada Raha (Translation: It's a promise) is an Indian television drama series that aired on Zee TV from September 21, 2015 to 20 January 2017. The show initially focussed on the love story of Survi (Sonal Vengurlekar and Karthik (Ankush Arora). However the show then took a 8 years leap after Survi's death and her daughter, Khushi, who had 7 years old has grown up (also led by Sonal Vengurlekar) and gets married to Abeer (Zain Imam), the new male lead of the show.[1]

Plot of Season 1

A girl named Survi Mohite (Roshni Walia) is raised by a single father Shrikant Mohite (Pankaj Vishnu). She is a mature, responsible 9-year-old girl who thinks logically. On the other hand, Kartik Barve (Ankush Arora) is a childish and impulsive 19-year-old guy.

Kartik's family consists of his mother Lata Barve (Madhavi Gogate), sister Shanti Barve (Almas Ali), uncle Digambar Barve aka Bhau (Ajay Paul Singh), aunt Kamla Barve aka Tai (Rinku Karmakar) and their children Hema Barve, Bindu Barve & Aniket Barve.

But in an unfortunate event, Bhau is shot by the police and Bhau dies. Then, Tai blames Shrikant for the incident. She vows revenge against him and Survi who are forced to flee to Dubai whereas Kartik promises Tai that he will take care of her and her family.

4 years later

Kartik has turned rich and he decides to bring Survi to his house as he always had great respect for Shrikant. He promises Shrikant that he will take care of Survi. Survi becomes aware of Tai's evil intentions and also gets to know that she only wants Kartik's property.

Tai promises Survi that she will not harm Kartik if Survi leaves. Survi agrees and leaves Kartik. But when Lata (now Radhika Vidyasagar) gets to know about Tai, Tai pushes her from a bridge and puts the blame on Survi. Kartik starts hating Survi.

8 years later

Kartik has turned into a cold-hearted alcoholic due to Survi's so-called betrayal. Survi (Sonal Vengurlekar) has also grown up and is a nurse now. She needs money for Shrikant's surgery, so she decides to take help from Tai. In this process, she meets Kartik. Kartik makes her stay to see what she did to Lata. Kartik doesn't fully know the truth, so he treats Survi badly.

On the other hand, Aniket (Bharat Singh Jadon) falls in love with Survi. Soon after, Kartik finds out Survi was innocent. He falls in love with her again. On the day of Survi and Aniket's wedding, Aniket runs away and to protect Survi's dignity, Kartik marries her instead. Survi now plans to expose Tai. After struggling a lot, she succeeds. Instead of kicking her out of the house, Kartik leaves all his property to Tai and the couple leave the house.

Kartik starts to work as a mechanic. A rich girl named, Meher (Ankitta Sharma), enters their lives. Meher falls madly in love with Kartik. When Tai gets to know about her, she decides to use Meher to separate Kartik and Survi. Meher's brother, Ranveer (Yash Tonk) is very caring for Meher. Meher forcibly marries Kartik. Survi gets pregnant. After troubling Kartik and Survi a lot, Meher and Ranveer get arrested.

But a bullet hits Tai and she pretends to have lost her memory. Survi delivers a baby girl and names her Khushi. But before Survi sees Khushi, Tai kidnaps her with the help of a kidnapper. The kidnapper sends a cloth with blood stains. Kartik and Survi blame each other for Khushi's death and are separated again. In the train, the kidnapper unknowingly hands Khushi to Survi. Survi decides to adopt the baby and names her Khushi.

7 years later

Khushi (Harbandana Kaur) is now a 7-year old girl who is living with Survi. Khushi and Kartik keep running into each other and start bonding. When Tai gets to know Khushi is Survi and Kartik's daughter, she decides to use her to create a rift between Kartik and Survi.

Khushi's identity gets revealed and Kartik and Survi again fight about this. But Survi makes Kartik realize that it was not their fault when they lost Khushi. Kartik and Survi are united again. Tai is arrested but, is still seeking revenge.

Kartik meets a mysterious woman, Iccha (Vaishnavi Dhanraj). Aniket loves Iccha and wants to marry her. Kartik thinks that Iccha is a spirit as she always scares Kartik. But Survi gets to know about Iccha and she exposes her.

But Tai makes Kartik, mentally challenged and he starts to think that Tai is his mother. Also, Kartik's long lost twin brother, Krishna Barve (also Ankush Arora) comes back and for a short time, he also creates problems. Tai gets stressed with Survi and Kartik and tries to kill them.

Instead, all family members except Khushi die. Tai stabs Survi. In the hospital, Khushi promises Survi that she will take care of the mentally deranged Kartik. Season 1 ends with Survi's death.

Plot of Season 2

15 years after Survi's death

Khushi, who has become exactly like her mother, Survi; has grown up and is taking care of Kartik (Krishna Soni). Khushi also clashes with a playboy, Abeer. This season shows the rifts between these two opposite personalities. They reach a village, where they are forced to get married. After lots of ups and down, Abeer and Khushi fall in love and confess their love and they end up consummating their marriage. Tai comes back to kill Khushi and Kartik, but is arrested by the police. In the end, Abeer's mother and father accept Khushi as their daughter-in-law and everyone lives happily ever after.
