Yamana Gold Inc. is a Canadian-based gold producer that began operations in 2003 with significant gold production, gold development stage properties, exploration properties, and land positions in Canada, Brazil, Chile and Argentina.[2]
Yamana added several mining properties with the purchase of other gold companies in 2005, 2006 and 2007, namely Viceroy, Desert Sun, RNC Gold, Northern Orion and Meridian Gold. The company's portfolio includes the following operating mines Chapada, El Peñón, Canadian Malartic (50%), Jacobina, Gualcamayo, and Minera Florida, and the Cerro Moro mine which began operations in the second quarter of 2018.

In December 2016 Yamana announced it had closed the spinout transaction of a portion of its Brazilian assets into Brio Gold.[3]
In 2017, Yamana produced 977,316 ounces of gold, 5.0 million ounces of silver and 127.3 million pounds of copper. The Company generated revenue of $1.8 billion and approximately $500 million in cash flow.
