Westfield Coomera is a shopping center in the Gold Coast, Queensland suburb of Coomera that is currently under construction. It will be located adjacent to the Coomera railway station and be 500 meters from the Pacific Motorway that connects the suburb with the southern suburbs of the Gold Coast as well as Brisbane. Westfield Coomera is being developed by the Scentre Group and is planned to be the heart of the booming northern region of the Gold Coast[1]. It is scheduled to open on the 11 October, 2018.
Construction
The development was initially announced in August 2017, after being approved by the Gold Coast City Council after almost 20 years of planning and debate. Westfield Coomera is expected to cost approximately $470 million and will create 7,500 jobs[2] during both the construction and operating phase of the new shopping centre.[3] It is being developed by the Queensland Investment Corporation and Scentre Group.[4]
Layout
The new shopping centre precinct will open with 140 specialty stores, anchored by Woolworths, Coles, Kmart, Target and Event Cinemas[5].
Fresh Food Marketplace
The Fresh Food Marketplace at the Westfield Coomera is intended to be a market-inspired experience, unlike anything else in the region. The marketplace will include a Coles and Woolworths supermarkets as well numerous fresh food stores.[6]
Outdoor dining precinct
Westfield Coomera will include an outdoor dining precinct offering a range of contemporary restaurants, in an open-air courtyard.[6]
Entertainment precinct
The shopping centre aims to deliver a complete day-out experience that can be enjoyed by the whole community. The Entertainment precinct will include an event cinemas complex as well as plenty of outdoor space, including a kids' play zone.[6]
Fashion, family and lifestyle
Westfield Coomera will include a cluster of specialty stores suited for the whole family, including a Kmart and Target discounts department stores.[6]
Transport links
Public transport
Westfield Coomera will be located adjacent to Coomera railway station which provides bus and train connections.The Gold Coast railway line connects the suburb Brisbane City as well as southern Gold Coast suburbs, terminating at Varsity Lakes. A number of Surfside Buslines services connect Coomera with the surrounding suburbs, including Ormeau, the northern most suburb on the Gold Coast and Helensvale just south of Coomera.
Traveling by car
The new shopping centre will be located on Foxwell Road in Coomera adjacent to the Coomera railway station and only a few hundred meters from the Pacific Motorway.
