PM2FAS (99.9 FM), on air name Virgin Radio Jakarta, is a radio station in Jakarta. It is the first Virgin Radio in Indonesia. It was launched on May 2016.

History

The 99.9 FM Frequency

99.9 FM frequency historically used for Universitas Indonesia campus radio back to 70s era, named RTC UI. RTC UI started broadcast regularly in early 1990s. Later after Reformation era, RTC moved to 89.35 FM, sharing frequency with Green Radio (now 89.2 Power FM). After regulation forcing all campus radio to use 107.7-108.0 FM canal, RTC moved to 107.9 MHz.

The Radio Company (PT Dengan Radio Anda Bahagia)

In 2004, Radio Draba (Dengan Radio Anda Bahagia) owned by Sys NS (deceased 2018) used this frequency, moving from 88.3 FM. This station's history is much unknown, beside regular broadcast of gamelan music. A radio chain from Bandung, 99ers, acquired this frequency in middle of 2000s. Sys NS might partially own this station, since speculations said that 99ers ceased broadcast because of expired contract.

After 99ers: Sys NS Radio

99ers gave up the radio chain in 2012. Soon, this frequency was popular for pirate radio broadcasting. In 2014, Sys NS took this station back, creating self-named radio station. Sys NS Radio played some oldies from various genre beside dangdut. Sys NS Radio broadcast in low power due to various reasons, one of them was pirate stations operating in 100.0 , 99.9 , and 99.8 MHz. Eventually, Sys NS sold this station to Virgin Group (via MPG Media) in 2015. Virgin Radio Jakarta started test broadcast in September 2015, first airing in May 2016.

Early Virgin Radio Era

In May 2016, Virgin Radio started with only one jockey named Vari (from Oz Radio). And then in late June 2016, it added one more jockey named Stefany. Not long after that in late 2016, Virgin Radio held a DJ audition, and added one more jockey named Canti. Advertisement kept running in prime time hours (6am-10am), together with its sister station Smooth FM which abandoned morning program. In 2017, Virgin Radio introduced its morning show named Breakfast Show with Vari and Canti as host, later Jerome replaced Canti in 2018. There are also other programs; Virgin Radio Music Morning with Canti, Virgin Radio Rush Hour with David, Virgin Radio Hot Hits with Stefany, and New Song Sunday, which used to be with Stefany, and in early 2018 is replaced with Aleef.
