Vinod Kumar Vijayan is an Indian film producer and director known for his works in Malayalam and Telugu cinema. His films include Quotation (2004),[1] Red Salute (2006)[1] and D Company: The Judgement Day (2013).[2]

Director

Vijayan began assisting with filming under the guidance of K. K. Haridas and Rajeev Ravi. His first film, MASK, has won the International Video Festival award in the category of best short film. His debut in mainstream filmmaking as a director was with the 2004 Malayalam Film Quotation with all-new cast and crew shot in 21 days with a total budget of 36 Lakh INR. Ravi was the cinematographer for the film.

His second film as a director was Red Salute, a 2006 Malayalam film starring Kalabhavan Mani and Sree Devika in the lead roles.[3] This film was also the debut film of cinematographer Vinod Illampally and editor Vivek Harshan.[4]

Vijayan also directed Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, a message-oriented short film for girls' education in India. The film starred child actor Esther Anil as the protagonist. Jomon T. John was the cinematographer for the film. Background score and music were by Rahul Raj, editing by Dileep Dennies, and art direction by Santosh Raman.

His next Malayalam film, D Company - The Day of Judgement, is a 2013 Indian Malayalam action portmanteau film, it was a three film anthology.[5][6] Vijayan's film starred Fahadh Faasil and Bhama in lead roles.[6][7] The cinematography was by Bharani K. Dharan, Vinod Illampilly and Pappu;[8] music was by Rahul Raj; editing was by Ajith Kumar, and art by Santosh Raman.

As of 2015, Vijayan is directing a Telugu feature film, Vaadu Nenu Kaadhu, starring Sairam Shankar in the lead role as a prosecutor.[9] Cinematography is by Rajeev Ravi,[9] editing by Vivek Harshan,[9] art by Santosh Raman, makeup by Pattanam Shah and Pattanam Rasheed,[9] and musical score by Rahul Raj.[10]

Producer

With Cutz Film Company, Vijayan has co-produced a number of films with K. Mohanan, including Annayum Rasoolum (2013),[7] a romance film and Ottaal (2015).[11] They are currently producing the Telugu suspense thriller Vaadu Nenu Kaadhu and another film, Naale.
