The Villanova School of Business is Villanova University's business school and offers six undergraduate degrees, six graduate programs, an executive MBA program, and several executive education programs. The programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The school is located in Villanova, Pennsylvania (part of Radnor Township). As of 2016, Bloomberg's Businessweek ranked Villanova School of Business first for undergraduate business education.[3]

History

The Villanova School of Business (VSB) was founded in 1922 by Father Joseph C. Bartley, a former dean. Originally known as "The College Of Commerce And Finance" it was renamed "The Villanova School Of Business" in 2006. Villanova was founded by the Roman Catholic Order of Saint Augustine.

Bartley Hall, home of VSB, houses an Applied Finance Lab. The VSB Applied Finance Lab is a trading room where students use the same technology and real-time information as Wall Street traders. In addition to serving as a home base for faculty and administration offices, Bartley Hall includes 33 classrooms, 6 lecture halls, a 130-seat auditorium, and the Curley Exchange, a dining, studying, and meeting facility.

The school has over 100 full-time faculty members, 90% of which hold the highest degrees in their respective fields, and six "Centers or Institutions of Excellence".

Academics

Undergraduate

As of Fall 2017, 1,753 students are enrolled full-time in the VSB undergraduate business program, with a graduate enrollment of 1,066.[4]

VSB Students take 50% of required courses in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in order to maintain a balance of business and liberal arts to provide students with the fundamentals of critical insight, independent thinking, and moral responsibility of working for the betterment of society.

VSB offers academic business degrees including:

These areas of study are also available as minors, in addition to Business Law & Corporate Governance and Entrepreneurship.[5]

Graduate

MBA: The VSB MBA offers an Online, Flex Track, or Fast Track option for students to complete the course at their own pace. This program allows students to utilize their skills almost immediately while taking on two consulting projects with a local nonprofit and a multinational firm.

Executive MBA: A residential, weekend-based program allows student to be involved and begin building business connections. A 19-month programs provides students with the skills to lead and navigate a complex business environment.

Master of Accounting with Data Analytics (MACDA): A one-year, full-time program combines accounting with data analytics in order to prepare students to become multi-dimensional accountants. This 30-credit course provides students with the necessary hours to earn a CPA License.

Master of Science in Finance (MSF): A one-year, full-time program providing students with hands-on interaction as well as classroom study. Students have the opportunity to utilize the nationally recognized Applied Finance Lab.

Master of Science in Analytics (MSA): Students become adept to latest analytic technologies and practices in an online classroom. The program provides industry projects and a final capstone experience through the support of the Center for Business Analytics.

Master of Science in Church Management (MSCM): An online two-year, part-time graduate program provides the student with a skill set in church management. The program meets the needs of a national student body church leader and manager. The MSCM program is built upon a solid business curriculum and a faith-based approach to church management

Master of Taxation: An evening program conducted by the School of Law and Villanova School of Business. Designed for legal, accounting, and business professionals. Classes are also available in an online format.

The Clay Center at VSB

Named in honor of the late VSB Dean Emeritus Alvin A. Clay, who was an alumnus, faculty member and dean.

The Clay Center’s mission is to support students’ professional and personal growth and development toward becoming socially responsible members of the global business community. The Clay Center offers advising and programs, which provide students with opportunities to gather information from faculty members and upperclassman students

O'Donnell Center for Professional Development

The O'Donnell Center, housed within the Clay Center, maintains an Information Center with handouts on VSB majors/minors, summer study abroad programs, internship and Co-op requirements and more. The O’Donnell Center, who is partnered with the Villanova University Career Center, sponsor and co-sponsor more than 100 career events each academic year. Many professionals presenting to students are VSB alumni representing their employers.

Undergraduate Admissions

For the class of 2020, the number of applications received for admissions was over 4,500, with the matriculation of the incoming class being 430. The SAT mid-range scores for typically accepted students was 1270–1430 and the mid-range GPA was 3.82-4.27.[6] For the class of 2021, the number of applications increased by 37.5% and the SAT mid-range scores for accepted students was 1340-1480 and the mid-range GPA was 3.92-4.29.[7]
