Urs Rohner (born c. 1959) is a Swiss lawyer, businessman and banker. He is the former CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media. He serves as the chairman of Credit Suisse.
Early life
Urs Rohner was born circa 1959.[1] He competed as a hurdler in the 1982 European Athletics Championships.[2] He earned a master of laws from the University of Zurich in 1983.[1][2]
Career
Rohner began his career at the law firm Lenz & Staehelin in Zurich,[2] where he was a partner from 1992 to 1999.[3] He subsequently practised for Sullivan & Cromwell in New York City.[3] He served as the chief executive officer of ProSiebenSat.1 Media from 2000 to 2004.[2]
Rohner became the chief lawyer at Credit Suisse in 2004.[2] He was its vice chairman from 2009 to 2011.[3] Since 2011, he has served as its chairman.[1] In 2017, he was criticized by investors for his poor performance.[2]
Philanthropy
Rohner serves on the board of trustees of the Lucerne Festival and the Zürich Opera House.[3] He also serves on the board of governance of the International Institute for Management Development.[3]
Personal life
Rohner is married to Nadja Schildknecht, the managing director of the Zurich Film Festival.[4] They have a son.[4]
