Inspira Health Network is a charitable nonprofit health care organization formed in November 2012 by the merger of South Jersey Healthcare and Underwood-Memorial Hospital.[1] It is affiliated with the Jefferson Medical College, Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, and Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, among others.[2] UMH is home to over 1,800 full and part-time employees and a medical staff of almost 400.

History

The predecessors to Underwood-Memorial Hospital were established by J. Harris Underwood, MD and William Brewer, MD, two physicians from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who each opened hospitals in Woodbury blocks from one another. The two hospitals were merged into what is now Underwood-Memorial Hospital.
