Trap Nation is an American YouTube music promotion channel based in Los Angeles that showcases Future bass, Chill, and electronic dance music.

Trap Nation serves as the flagship channel in The Nations network, which includes channels Chill Nation, Bass Nation, Rap Nation, Indie Nation, R&B Nation, and House Nation.

As of February 2018, The Nations are the largest music channel network on YouTube with over 27.8 million subscribers collectively. The flagship channel, Trap Nation, is currently the 33rd most-subscribed channel on YouTube.

History

Trap Nation was founded in September 2012 by Andre Willem Benz when he was 15 years old.[1]

Trap Nation's subscriber base grew when an upload of San Holo's remix of Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode" gained 23 million views in just 7 months.

By the end of 2016, Trap Nation was included in the top 10 fastest growing YouTube channels by Tubefilter, receiving an average of 70 million new plays a week.[2][3]

As of 2018, Trap Nation has more than 20 million subscribers and is averaging 560,000 new subscribers a month.[4] On Spotify, Trap Nation's playlists have over 1 million followers and an average of 200,000 monthly listeners.[5]

Lowly Palace

In September 2016, Lowly Palace was founded, Trap Nation's independent record label.[6] In less than a year, the channel has amassed almost 100,000 subscribers.[7]

Events

In 2016, Trap Nation made its first live event debut at Danbury, CT, where Botnet and Lukas performed.[8]

Trap Nation participated at the SXSW event in March 2017, featuring artists Illenium, San Holo, Whethan, and more.[9][10]

In June 2017, Trap Nation held the largest art car event at EDC, reaching a crowd of over 4,000 people. The lineup featured acts such Alan Walker, Troyboi, Boombox Cartel, Autograf, and others played.[11][12]

Trap Nation was also an official Insomniac sponsor at the event, alongside Sunglass Hut, Uber, Smirnoff, and Corona.

Accolades

In 2015, Trap Nation was included in YouTube's top 10 preferred Google / YouTube music partners.[13]Trap Nation is also in the top 1% of Google's preferred electronic-dance music channels.[14]

In June 2017, Trap Nation was the 44th most subscribed channel on YouTube[15] and had accumulated more than 5 billion total views. Trap Nation was also ranked by Billboard as the #1 dance curator on YouTube alongside Monstercat, MrSuicideSheep, Proximity, and Majestic Casual.[16]
