Tobasco, Ohio

Tobasco is an unincorporated community in Clermont County, in the U.S. state of Ohio.[1]

History

A post office called Tobasco was established in 1878, and remained in operation until 1933.[2] The community derives its name from Tabasco, in Mexico.[3] It was misspelled at the beginning and the spelling remains today. Another historian claims that President Rutherford B. Hayes made an appearance in the area making an outdoor speech in 90º heat. As he wiped his brow he said "It IS hotter than Tabasco sauce out here!" +
