Tingoora is a town and a locality in the South Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia.[2][3]

Geography

The town is on the Bunya Highway, 249 kilometres (155 mi) north west of the state capital, Brisbane. At the 2006 census, Tingoora had a population of 175.[1]

History

The town takes its name from a railway station which was named for the local Indigenous Australian word in the Waka language for the wattle tree.[2]

The Tingoora Hotel, established in 1900, was reportedly the first public building in the town.[4]
