Tiftarea Academy is a private school and segregation academy in Chula, Georgia, United States. It is located seven miles north of Tifton.

History

Tiftarea Academy was founded in response to the federally mandated racial desegregation of public schools. According Mike Bowler of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the school can be described as a segregation academy.[1]

Speech and debate

Tiftarea Academy reestablished a speech and debate team in the fall of 2013. The team competes throughout Georgia and the Southeast. They went to semifinals at the 2014 GISA State Championships, and have won various debate and speaking awards at every tournament they have competed in to date.
