In Greek mythology, Thoosa or Thoösa (/θoʊˈoʊsə/, Greek: Θόωσα, translit. Thoôsa) was a sea nymph whose name derives from the word thoos, meaning "swift".[1] She and the god Poseidon are the parents of the cyclops Polyphemus.[2] According to Homer, Thoosa was the daughter of the sea god Phorcys, but no mother is mentioned.
