This One's for You is the debut studio album by American country music singer Luke Combs. It was released on June 2, 2017, through Columbia Nashville. It includes the number-one singles "Hurricane", "When It Rains It Pours", and "One Number Away", as well as "She Got the Best of Me". A deluxe reissue titled This One's for You Too was released June 1, 2018, and featured five new tracks to commemorate the album's first anniversary.[4]
History
The album's lead single is "Hurricane", which reached No. 1 on Country Airplay.[1] Combs co-wrote all twelve songs on the album. He told Nash Country Daily that he considered it "a good synopsis of who I am" and "I don't think there’s one track that sounds the same as another."[1]
Critical reception
Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic rated the album 3.5 out of 5 stars, praising the ballads and noting that "The tension between Combs' traditional side and modern inclinations is what gives This One's for You some freshness and it surfaces often."[2] Chuck Dauphin of Sounds Like Nashville wrote that "vocals are one thing that Combs has in his favor. You get the feeling that no producer had to coach him to be country", while also praising Combs's songwriting.[5]
Commercial performance
The album debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 on its release in June 2017, selling 35,000 copies, making a total 43,000 units including streams and track sales.[6] It also debuted at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart.[7] The album sold a further 8,700 the following week.[8] The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on November 30, 2017.[9] In June 2018, it had its biggest week when it returned to No. 1 on Top Country Albums with 55,000 equivalent album units (23,000 in traditional album sales) consumed.[10] It has sold 326,800 copies in the US as of September 2018.[11]
Upon release of This One's for You Too, the album reached a new peak of number four on the Billboard 200 in June 2018.[12]
