"This Is Pop" is a song written by Andy Partridge of the English rock band XTC, released on their 1978 album White Music. A rerecorded version, "This Is Pop?", was released as the group's third single.[1] Partridge wrote the song as a response to labels such as "punk", which he believed were redundant of "pop".[2] The song's opening F chord was based on The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night" (1964).[3]
Its title inspired the 2017 documentary of the same name: XTC: This Is Pop.[4]
