The Powell Brothers

The Powell Brothers is an Americana/Country group from Kingwood, Texas. The group was formed by brothers Taylor and Blake Powell in February 2014.[1]

Background

Blake and Taylor Powell are both multi-instrumentalists. They first toured together in 2006 as a hired backing band,[1] and continued to play as such until Blake graduated from Kingwood High School in 2007, and Taylor in 2010. Both live bass player, Joseph Daniel (2009), and their live drummer, Reese Foster (2008), also attended Kingwood High School. Post-graduation, both of the brothers briefly attended Berklee College of Music. In their individual careers, the brothers have worked as songwriters, producers, band members, music directors, and session players[2] for more than 30 artists internationally, including: Drew Cline, Grace Pettis, Granger Smith, Haley Cole, Jon Wolfe, Sam Riggs and the Night People, Tucker Jameson, and Will Makar. In February 2014 they were both on the verge of pursuing separate careers on opposite sides of the United States, but instead, decided to form The Powell Brothers and focus on making their own music.[3]

In March 2016, The Powell Brothers added Joseph Daniel as the first official member of their live band. Chad Tolar joined The Powell Brothers in June 2016 as the band's manager and booking agent.

The group has shared the stage with numerous top national and regional acts including Billy Currington, Sabrina Carpenter, Lee Brice, Aaron Watson, Josh Turner, Gary Allan, Granger Smith, Pat Green, The Bellamy Brothers, Randy Rogers Band, Cody Johnson, Gary P. Nunn, Kevin Fowler and many more. In their home state of Texas, The Powell Brothers perform regularly at legendary live music venues including Gruene Hall, John T. Floore’s Country Store, The Rustic, Luckenbach, Texas, Dos Amigos, Brewster Street Ice House, Magnolia Motor Lounge, The Blue Light Live and Goode Company Armadillo Palace to name a few.[4]

The Powell Brothers co-founded Tolar Powell Entertainment with Chad Tolar, their manager and booking agent.

Biography

The Powell Brothers are Country/Americana recording artists from Houston, Texas.

The group is fronted by brothers Taylor Powell (lead vocals) and Blake Powell (lead guitar).  The Powell Brothers spent the first half of 2018 promoting their radio single “Coming Home.”  The single enjoyed much success on the charts, spending seven (7) weeks in the Top 20 on both the TRRR and CDX Traction Texas radio charts.  The group’s new single, “Somewhere Down The Road,” released to radio on August 13th and was recognized as the highest debuting single on the chart.  Both singles will be featured on “Leave on the Light,” the band’s first full length record coming out in February of 2019.

When asked about The Powell Brothers’ explosive growth and what the future holds, Taylor Powell explained “It all boils down to this; good songs and good people.  We are committed to the craft of songwriting.  Our goal is to make every song and every album better than the last, and to surround ourselves with the best people.”  Blake Powell echoes his brother’s thoughts and added, “Our goal is to deliver recorded music and live performances worthy of the love and support we are so blessed to receive."

Taylor and Blake have a strong passion for performing live, a fact reflected by the brothers’ busy tour schedule.  The Powell Brothers’ 2018 tour schedule includes over 120 concert dates, with shows in North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon.  In their home state of Texas, the group regularly performs at legendary live music venues like Gruene Hall, John T. Floore Country Store, Hurricane Harry’s, The Rustic, Luckenbach, Texas, Brewster Street Ice House, and The Blue Light Live to name a few.
