The Front Page is a CBS Television series, broadcast beginning September 29, 1949, and starring Richard Boone, Curt Conway, John Daly, and Janet Shaw. The 30-minute show, based on the play The Front Page by Charles MacArthur and Ben Hecht, aired Thursdays at 8pm ET.[1]

Plot

Hildy Johnson, star reporter for the Examiner, is about to leave his job to get a respectable job and get married. He goes to the press room of the Chicago's Criminal Courts Building to say goodbye to his colleagues, but when a prisoner escapes Cook County Jail all the reporters leave to cover the story, leaving Hildy alone in the press room. The escaped prisoner, a harmless man who was framed by ambitious politicians, climbs in the window, and explains his story to Hildy, who helps his escape by hiding him in a desk.
