The Brioche is a late 19th century painting by French artist Édouard Manet. Done in oil on canvas, the work depicts a loaf of brioche resting on a table. The painting was produced by Manet after a work by 18th century artist Jean Siméon Chardin was donated to the Louvre in Paris; this donation spurred Manet to donate his own painting of a brioche to the famed museum.[1]
