Tetraena fontanesii, synonym Zygophyllum fontanesii, is a species of plant found in Macaronesia and northeast Africa.[2][3]

The plant is named after the French botanist René Louiche Desfontaines.

Description

This halophile or xerophile plant can grow up to 50 cm, it has sub-cylindrical or curved leaves and its colours ranging from white to yellow, its fruit seet measures 5–7 mm.[4]

Distribution

The plant is founded in the Macaronesian islands (except for the Azores, and the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands) and northeast Africa, mainly in the westernmost areas, including Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania and northern Senegal.
