Temascalapa is a town and municipality in Mexico State in Mexico. The municipality covers an area of 168.26 km².

As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 33,063.[1] The region is noted for drug cartel activity after the death of Netflix's location scout, Carlos Muñoz Portal, for the TV Series Narcos who was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in his car on September 15, 2017.[2][3][4]
