Tajpur Port [1] is a proposed sea port in Tajpur, East Midnapore district of West Bengal.The West Bengal government has proposed to build the port.The port has been proposed to be built on the coast of the Bay of Bengal near Tajpur.

History

West Bengal's main port is Kolkata Port (including Haldia Port).But to reduce the riverbed of the Hooghly river, it is impossible to anchor the ocean-going vessels in the port of Kolkata and Haldia.As a result of this the speed of the industry is declining.Import and export of commodities in Kolkata and Asansol-Durgapur Industrial region are being taken to Paradip port.The future of the state's port industry and the Haldia industrial region is uncertain.For this reason the state government has taken the Tajpur port project.[2]

Details of the port

The Tajpur Port is proposed to be a large deep sea port. The port will be built on the coast of Tajpur. Land for the port will be created by plowing along the sea coast to build the port. The depth of the harbor will be 15 meters, which will not be difficult to navigate through sea-bound big ships. A 18-kilometer channel will be constructed from the deep sea for the port. 6 berths will be built in the first phase. The next phase will be 9 berths. The place to be separated from the sea. As a result, tourists of the coastal beach will not have problems. Each terminal of Tajpur will be multipurpose work. Danger can work as a container cargo with cargo. It is estimated that the construction of the guntor will be invested in 16 thousands crores. The first phase is 10 thousand crore and the second phase is 6 thousands crores. The construction of this port will provide employment to 10 thousand people.

The port will be built by the Government of West Bengal and Government of India together.[3]
