Tadhg de Búrca (born 1994), sometimes referred to as Tadhg Bourke, is an Irish hurler who currently plays as a sweeper for the Waterford senior team.[1]
Born in Clashmore, County Waterford, de Búrca developed as a hurler during his secondary schooling at St Augustine's College in Dungarvan. Here he won a set of All-Ireland and Harty Cup medals in his final year with the school in 2012. de Búrca later attended University College Cork where he was a regular during the Fitzgibbon Cup. At club level de Búrca plays both hurling and Gaelic football with Clashmore-Kinsalebeg.
de Búrca made his debut on the inter-county scene when he was selected for the Waterford minor team in 2011. After two championship seasons with the minor team, he subsequently joined the Waterford under-21 team. By this stage de Búrca had also joined the Waterford senior team after making his debut during the 2014 league. He quickly became a regular member of the starting fifteen and has won one National Hurling League medal as well as being named Young Hurler of the Year in 2015.[2][3]
