Surya IPS is a 1991 Telugu action film, produced by T. Subbarami Reddy on Maheswari Parameswari Productions and directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy. Venkatesh and Vijayshanti played the lead roles and music was composed by Ilayaraja.[1] The film was Average at the box office.[2]It was later dubbed in Tamil as Mudhalamaichar Jayanthi.[3]
Plot
Surya (Venkatesh) lives like an easy going guy with his grandfather (Satyanayana). His grandfather forces him to join police selections. Sirisha (Vijayashanti), Surya's college mate also joins the police selections, and both of them go to police training after various quarrels between them, and misbehavior of Surya. His grandfather tells Surya why he wanted him to become a police officer and the truth of what happened to his family during his childhood, his father Ekambareswara Rao (Charanraj) killed his mother to marry CM Jagadeeshwara Rao's (Gokina Rama Rao) sister and puts the blame on his father. After knowing the reason, he decides to take revenge, completes his training and becomes a police officer. Meanwhile, Rajeswara Rao (Charuhasan), Sirisha's father stands in elections against C.M. That's why Jagadeswara Rao Kills Rajeswara Rao and his entire family, and the case is handed over to Surya, but Jagadeswara Rao & CM's tactics send Surya to jail, which forms the rest of story.[4]
