S.I.N.G (pronounced as es-ī-en-jē), also known as Super Impassioned Net Generation (simplified Chinese: SING女团; traditional Chinese: SING女團; pinyin: /sɪŋ/ nǚ tuán; literally: "Sing Girls' Group") is a Chinese girl group formed by KuGou Music. The group features eight members, whom are selected from different regions in China. Debut in 2015, the group primarily focus on Chinese-style electronic dance music.

History

2014-2015: Formation and debut

The group originally debuted in 2015 with 10 members in August 10, 2015.[1]

Given the limitation on budget, S.I.N.G doesn't rely on income from concert ticket, instead primary revenues are gained from royalty, licensing fees and selling merchandise.[2]

2016: Membership change

Four of the members suspended their activities in 2016, and 3 new members were added later.[2]

2017: Transition

In September, the Group released a new single called Ji Ming Yue, their first ever Chinese-style electronic dance music. The single helped the group gain popularity and momentum in China.[3]

In December, the Group organized Christmas live concert of 2017, Part of Me (Chinese: 半面; pinyin: Bàn miàn). After the concert, the member Lin Jinyi suspended her activity due to health reason.[4]

Three month later, the group released their first international album SING (Chinese: SING女團同名專輯; pinyin: SING nǚ tuán tóngmíng zhuānjí) on iTunes and Spotify, including the iconic Chinese-style dance music Ji Ming Yue (Chinese: 寄明月; pinyin: Jì míngyuè) which has gained 3.5 millions of views on Youtube and another 4 millions inside China as an independent single.[5]

2018: Produce 101

Three members of SING attended reality idol show Produce 101. Jiang Shen and Xu Shiyin concluded with 23rd and 75th place respectively. Lai Meiyun made into the final line up at 6th place and successfully debuted as part of Rocket Girls.[6]

Training Program

The producing agency Qigu Culture provides idol training service available for application.[7]
