The M-9 (Urdu: موٹروے 9) is a 136-km long 6-lane under construction motorway connecting the cities of Hyderabad and Karachi in the Sindhprovince of Pakistan. It is a part of Pakistan's Motorways Network.
Groundbreaking Ceremony of M-9 Motorway was held on 11th March 2015 with planned completion date of August 2017, However deadline for M-9 was slipped and new Inauguration date is set for April 2018.
The motorway is being constructed by the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and Think Transportation is appointed as the Traffic Consultant for this Motorway. Construction begun in September 2015 and is expected to be completed in 2018. The motorway will be 136 km and will include 3 lanes on either side. The project will reduce the travelling time between Karachi and Hyderabad. The motorway on completion will consist of:
1- 136 km 6 Lane facility. 2- 275 Km 2x Lane Service Road on either sides. 4- 8 Interchanges. 5- Karachi and Hyderabad Toll Plazas into 24 lane facilities. 6- Introduce Weigh Stations on new interchanges to check overloading 7- Construction of 2 Service Areas. 8- Construction of 2 Trauma Centres.
M-9 is up gradation of existing Super Highway by adding extra lane on each side and complete re-surfacing of super highway.
