Stillwell is an unincorporated community in Pleasant Township, LaPorte County, Indiana. The building that houses the bar The Last Roundup has been in location since July, 1917. Gangster John Dillinger had hid out in Stillwell staying at house on corner of Railroad Street and Main.

History

A post office was established at Stillwell in 1870, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1963.[3] The community was named for Thomas Stillwell, a pioneer settler.[4] On February 24th, 1950 the Stillwell Vikings basketball team beat Laporte which at the time were undefeated to other county schools. John Dillinger hid out in Stillwell and had stayed at house on corner of Railroad St. and E.Hupp Road. The building that houses the bar The Last Roundup has been standing since July, 1917.
