Stephanie Louise Peacock[1] (born 19 December 1986) is a British Labour Party politician. She became the Member of Parliament (MP) for Barnsley East at the 2017 general election.[2] She is an employee of GMB union focusing on NHS and education.[3] Previously, Peacock was a teacher and GMB representative.[4]

Parliamentary career

In 2015 Peacock fought Halesowen and Rowley Regis, but was defeated by the Conservative incumbent James Morris.

Only weeks before the 2017 general election, she was selected to stand for parliament in the safe Labour seat of Barnsley East when the previous incumbent Michael Dugher retired.[5]

Her maiden speech occurred during a Grenfell Tower debate during which she mentioned the local issue of Orgreave.[6]
