St John of God Subiaco Hospital is a 578-bed private hospital in Subiaco, Western Australia.[1]

Founded in 1898, Subiaco Hospital is the oldest surviving St John of God Health Care hospital in Australia, and the first permanent facility established by the Congregation of the Sisters of St John of God.[2]

St John of God Subiaco Hospital is a division of St John of God Health Care, a leading Catholic not-for-profit health care group, serving communities with hospitals, home nursing, and social outreach services throughout Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia-Pacific region.[3]

Facilities

St John of God Subiaco Hospital houses 578 beds, 20 operating theatres, four endoscopy suites, two cardio and vascular intervention laboratories and radiology and pathology suites.[4][5] It also operates the Subiaco Clinic, which includes medical consulting rooms, a combined operating suite and day surgery unit and a conference centre.[6]

The on-site $30 million Bendat Family Comprehensive Cancer Centre comprises an oncology ward, day chemotherapy suite, an endoscopy unit and consulting suites.[7]

In 2008, St John of God Subiaco Hospital became the first hospital in Western Australia and the fifth in Australia to obtain a da Vinci robotic surgical system. The robot is used for performing radical prostatectomies and other delicate surgeries.[8]

In 2015, the St John of God Wembley Day Surgery opened near the hospital. The 23-hour standalone facility has three operating theatres and offers day surgery for a range of specialities.[9]

St John of God Raphael Services in Wembley provides perinatal infant mental health care and research. Staffed by mental health clinicians, Raphael Services provide free support for parents and families affected by anxiety, depression and other mental health difficulties during pregnancy and in the postnatal period. The services also provide counselling and support for parents undergoing prenatal testing or who have experienced pregnancy loss.[12]
