History

St. Benedict High School was established in 1950. St. Benedict Prep High School is a co-educational college preparatory high school located on the north side of Chicago. As a Loyola University School of Education Professional Development Partner, St. Benedict Prep offers innovative, custom-designed curricula in the areas of science and mathematics. Collaboration between St. Benedict Prep and Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota allows juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn dual high school and college credit through the Program for Advanced College Credit (PACC). Students are able to graduate from St. Benedict Prep with up to 23 college credits, at a significantly reduced cost. A full honors and Advanced Placement curriculum is available within the college prep curriculum.

Additionally, St. Benedict Prep strives to "Do College Prep Differently" with such unique offerings like Agora Week (a week of experiential, immersed learning outside of the classroom), the Protege Career Internship Program, our close-knit and supportive community...just to name a few. St. Benedict Prep provides the opportunity to prepare for college in a challenging, fun and nurturing atmosphere.

St. Benedict High School is one of two remaining Archdiocese of Chicago run high schools. In February 2017 the school announced that it would be closing. The last graduating class is scheduled for June 2019.[2]
