Sri Satyanarayana Mahathyam (English: Glory of Sri Satyanarayana) is a 1964 Telugu, mythological devotional film, produced by P. Satyanarayana on Aswaraja Pictures banner[2] and directed by S. Rajinikanth.[3] Starring N. T. Rama Rao, Krishna Kumari in the lead roles and music composed by Ghantasala.[4]

Plot

The film begins the entrance of Kaliyuga due to which situations on earth became disastrous. Goddess Bhudevi (Suryakala) prays Lord Vishnu (N. T. Rama Rao) to take the avatar but Goddess Lakshmi obstructs his way. So Lord Vishnu sends a messenger to earth in a form of a baby b0y. A Saint Sunanda (A.V.Subba Rao) gets the baby as a God's gift. King Sivakeshava (Relangi) is an erratic person and feels that he himself is God's incarnation and people should only worship him and except him, no one has right to worship Shiva and Keshava. His assistants Nandi (Mukkamala) and Pakshi (Allu Ramalingaiah) look after that no one disobeys their orders. Once they see boy praying Lord Vishnu, Nandi captures him and according to King’s command, they send him to jail. Lord Vishnu sends Sage Narada (Kanta Rao) for boy’s protecting and orders him to use as a tool to propagate a religious ritual Satyanarayana Vratam on earth and names him as Satyadas. Satyadasu makes a Brahmin to perform the ritual who is weeping for the death of their daughter and she gets rebirth, a poor woodcutter performs this becomes rich and a couple Sadhu Shetty (Ramana Reddy) and his wife Leelavathi (Chayadevi) were blessed with a baby after performing this ritual. Time passes Satyadas (again N. T. Rama Rao) grows up along with his propagations and makes an Ashram. Ratnavalli (Krishna Kumari) daughter of Sivakeshava Maharaja, who is as arrogant as his father, comes to know regarding Satyadas’s propaganda, she visits the Ashram and tries to spoil his ritual but after seeing his great devotion she becomes his ardent devotee and loves him. Seeing this Sivakeshava Maharaja arrests Satyadas in his fort.

Lord Vishnu reassures Bhudevi that who suffers the good, will be punished. Lakshmi is angry on Vishnu. Narada tells her he will stop Vishnu going to earth if she gives him the extraordinary power of ‘’Sidda Lakshmi’’ and she does. Narada gives this to Sivakesava Maharaja and asks him to give wealth to everyone then people restart praying him. Sivakesava uses this on greedy common people but before the devotion of Satyadas, it fails. At the same time, Ratnavalli tells her father that he will marry Satyadas otherwise she will die. The King goes to the jail and orders his henchmen to remove the eyes of Satyadas by taking him to the forest. Meanwhile, Sage Narada plays a drama who instigates Nandi against the King. Nandi captivate’s the King & Ratnavalli for power, Pakshi rescues them. By the time Satyadas eyes were removed by Nandi, Sivakesava, Ratnavalli also reaches there. Nandi sets fire to the forest, Pakshi kills Nandi when the forest is under fire Satyadas prays Lord Vishnu descends down and shows entire world form in him (Vishwaroopam) to Satyadas, Sridevi & Bhudevi also follows and they make the marriage of Satyadas & Ratnavalli. Satyadas asks Lord Vishnu to stay on earth to uplift the people, so, Lord Vishnu incarnates in the form of Lord Satyanarayana Swamy. The same idol is adored by lakhs of people at Annavaram till today.
