Sports broadcasting contracts in the Philippines

These are the sports broadcasting contracts in the Philippines. There are four primary local producers of sport programs in the country: Solar Sports, ABS-CBN (ABS-CBN Sports), GMA Network, and TV5 (ESPN 5).

Solar airs its sports programming on cable channels Solar Sports. It was the official broadcast partners the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics (the latter also aired on TV5, AksyonTV and Cignal-owned Hyper under the Sports5 brand) and the FIBA Basketball World Cup and its qualifying games until 2015, when both event's contract were transferred to Sports5.

ABS-CBN airs its sports programming on UHF ABS-CBN Sports+Action and its HD-simulcast channel ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD. It also airs select boxing matches on its flagship station, VHF Channel 2, notably Pacquiao matches before Solar regained the rights. It is also the broadcast partner of the UAAP and the NCAA, which its primary events includes men's basketball and women's volleyball among others.

Solar also holds the rights to the National Basketball Association. Currently, it airs most NBA games and programming on Basketball TV and NBA Premium TV. Its free-to-air rights are to ABS-CBN Sports, airing some regular-season games, the NBA All-Star Weekend, some NBA playoffs games, the entire NBA Conference Finals and the NBA Finals. It function is the same as the WNBA.

Sports5, the sports arm of TV5 currently has rights to the Philippine Basketball Association, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, WWE and FIBA-related events, which includes the FIBA Basketball World Cup and its qualifying games.

Foreign sports other than the NBA are aired, but on cable channels, notably Solar, the Fox Sports channels (Fox Sports, Fox Sports 2 and Fox Sports 3) and various sports channels like BeIN Sports and Setenta Sports. Sports Illustrated TV (formerly All Sports Network) also airs foreign sports programming, mostly gaining rights for the National Hockey League, National Football League, NASCAR Xfinity and the Camping World Truck Series.
