Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, is a politician from Kano State, an economist, and a teacher, who dedicated his life to public service.

Early life and education

Ata was born on 22 June 1962 in Fagge quarters of Kano State, He attended Fagge Primary School 1968 - 1975, then he proceed to Aminu Kano Community Commercial College 1975 - 1980. He graduate from Bayero University, Kano,BUK in 1984 where he Degree in Economics in 2001 he also certificate of Masters in Development Studies in same University Bayero University, Kano,BUK.

After finishing his Degree in 1984 he serve the Nation i.e NYSC in Sokoto State from 1984 to 1985.

Career

Ata, started his career as a Classroom teacher after his graduation from 1985 to 1992 where he move to Ministry of Education and served as State inspector (Business Education) 1992 - 1994, Ata move to Kano State Housing Cooperation as Principal Planning Officer from 1994 - 1997 after his retirement from service he joint politic where he was elected to Kano State House of Assembly to represent his Constituency of Fagge he served as a chairman House Committee on Appropriation 1999 - 2003 during the 2003 General Election Ata Lost his sit in the House. Ata return to Kano State House of Assembly in 2011 and served as Chairman House Committee on Finance in 2015 he was nominated as Majority Leader of Kano State House of Assembly Ata, became Speaker Kano, Kano State House of Assembly as the result of the resignation of his predecessor Rt. Hon Kabiru Alhassan Rurum due to the allegation against him,[3]

Ata, became Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly as the result of the resignation of his predecessor Rt. Hon Kabiru Alhassan Rurum due to the allegation against him, Before nomination he was the Majority Leader of Kano State House of Assembly[4] he was elected in the Nigerian general election, 2015,[5] to represent his Constituency of Fagge for the third term he was first elected to the Kano State House of Assembly in the year 1999 On Monday 30th July 2018 Ata [6] was Impeached by 27 Members out of the 40 Members of Kano State House of Assembly were they claim that he cannot run the affairs of the house, the motion was raise by Abdulmadari Member Representing Warawa Constituency and second by Abdullahi Chiromawa Member Representing Kura/Garum Mallam Constituency [7] were they replaced him with the Deputy Speaker Kabiru Alhassan Rurum who was the predecessor of Ata and now the Successor
