Southern States University (SSU) is a private American university with three locations, two in Southern California (San Diego & Irvine) and one in Nevada (Las Vegas). SSU is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). In December 2017, SSU achieved eligibility status for regional accreditation from the Western Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Achieving eligibility completes the first of 3 major phases in the regional accreditation process.[2]

History

The institution was founded in 1983, originally in Orange County, California.[3] Its current owner is Tepper Technologies, Inc., which purchased it in 2005.[4]

Southern States University (SSU) is a private school in Southern California and Nevada with over 650 active students from more than 40 countries. The school has two campuses in California and one campus in Nevada. Southern States University offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT). Certificate Programs are also offered in the areas of Busisness, Information Technology and Film Studies. The Chancellor is John Tucker.

SSU is based in San Diego, California. It has campuses in San Diego, Irvine (California) and Las Vegas (Nevada). [3][5]

Accreditation and approvals

Southern States University was nationally accredited in August 2010 by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools,[6] an accreditor recognized by the United States Department of Education.[1] SSU has maintained "Institutional Approval" status from the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) since the University's acquisition by Tepper Technologies in 2006, certifying that it has continued to meet the state's statutory requirements for a private postsecondary institution.[7]. SSU also holds a full term license in the State of Nevada from the Nevada Commission on Postsecondary Education.
