Sonta Ooru (English: Native Village) is a 1956 Telugu, drama film, produced by G. Sadasivudu on G.V.S.Productions banner[2] and directed by E. S. N. Murthy.[3] Starring N. T. Rama Rao, Sowcar Janaki in the lead roles[4] and music composed by Ghantasala.[5]

Plot

Rayanam, a farmer who lost all his money because of his charities, he has two sons Madhav & Chinnabbai and a daughter Aruna. Madhav comes back to the village after completing his studies. He takes his blind friend Dasu's lands on lease and starts cultivating it. Lakshmi is a poor girl who lives rearing cows and less milk out of it. She treats Rayanam & Madhav as Gods. Pitchamma a widow wants to marry her daughter Damayanti with Madhav if he is ready to leave the agriculture and start his livelihood in the city. Chinnabbai quarrels with father and starts a hotel taking investment from Pitchamma. At this time a doctor Damodaram Tripada / DDT comes to the village and he starts teaching Damayanti. Lakshmi starts loving Madhav but afraid to reveal it. She used to work in his fields in his absence. Used to give rice and milk to them unknowingly. Munsif of the village Dayanidhi comes to know this and questions Madhav. Madhav intern questions Lakshmi for the unwanted service but Dasu scolds Madhav when Madhav recognizes Lakshmi’s love. Rayanam gets money on debt for Aruna's marriage but Chinnabai steals it. Dasu’s mother Chukamma asks Rayanam to marry Aruna to her son Dasu, but Rayanam did not like it. Chukamma gets angry and in that collision with Pitchamma start blaming Madhav, Lakshmi & Aruna by spreading rumors. On Deepavali day while Madhav’s is returning to village Pitchamma sends goons to beat him. Aruna wants to commit suicide. DDT and Dayanidhi try to beat Lakshmi. Rest of the story is how they escape?
