SoftMaker Office is an office suite developed since 1987 by the German company SoftMaker Software GmbH, Nuremberg.[3]

SoftMaker Office 2006 and 2008, previously available for purchase, were later released as freeware,[4][5][6] and later still superseded by SoftMaker FreeOffice.[7]

Functionality

SoftMaker Office has many functions of office suites such as Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, Apache OpenOffice or WordPerfect Office, and can also run from USB flash drives and supports integrated reference works. It has its own native formats, and can read and write file formats of Microsoft Office,[8] OpenDocument format (word processor only[8]), RTF and HTML. It can export to PDF. Multi-language spell-checking, hyphenation and thesaurus is supported, and it has an integrated five-language translation dictionary (English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish).

The user interface is similar to Microsoft Office's.
