Shhh! is Japanese singer-songwriter Kumi Koda's first single of 2016, 59th single overall and is the first single since 2014's Dance In The Rain. It received a limited physical release through mu-mo and was available at concert venues for her Live Tour 2016 ~Best Single Collection~.

Information

Shhh! is the 59th single released by Japanese artist Kumi Koda. It was her only single released for the year of 2016 and was her first single since Dance In The Rain, which was released in November 2014.[1] The single was released for a limited time through mu-mo, and was available at concert venues for her Live Tour 2016 ~Best Single Collection~.[2][3]

Shhh! received four editions, three of which were only available at concert venues. Each edition contained different cover art and, much like her 12 Single Collection in 2005-2006, a different back cover, which, when put together, would reveal a hidden image.[4] The CD contained the title track and "Kimi Omoi," which was previously released in 2014 on her limited Fever: Legend Live EP, along with its corresponding music video.[5]

Another unique aspect to the single was that it was Kumi's first single to not be released with a jewel case. Each CD was released in a cardboard covered booklet.[6] Also available for those who signed up at SP Music, a barcode was given to those who purchased the CD with a special code to download the song via mobile.[7]

"Shhh!" was written and composed by musical composers Jamie Sellers and Nicole Simpson. Jamie Sellers is most well known for their work with M.A.D for their song "Fame & TV," and with South Korean duo Tohoshinki for their song "I Just Can't Quit Myself."[8] The lyrics were written by Kumi herself. "Kimi Omoi"'s lyrics were written by both Kumi and Yoko Kuzuya, who had worked with Kumi several times in the past, including her 2006 album Best ~second session~.[9][10] The music was composed by Mitsuki Shiokawa. Mitsuki had worked with both Kumi and Soulhead for the song "D.D.D.," and with Japanese girl group Speed.[11][12] The music for the piece was performed by Yoko, SAYALA and Mitsuki.

Both "Shhh!" and "Kimi Omoi" were placed on her double album release W Face, with "Shhh!" placed on W Face ~outside~ and "Kimi Omoi" on W Face ~inside~.[13]

Shhh! became Kumi's first a-side since flower to not have a corresponding music video.
